itmWEB ANNOUNCES NEW METHODOLOGY.ORG WEB SITE
AUSTIN, TEXAS, (APRIL 15, 1999) -- The itmWEB Site™, located on the Internet at http://www.itmweb.com, has formally opened a second web site for IT professionals at http://www.methodology.org. The new Methodology.org Site is a comprehensive site providing systems, application development, and object oriented methodology information. It also includes CASE tools, UML papers, and summary methodologies for software engineering. The site will occupy the old webserver space at GeoCities which was the original birthplace of itmWEB.
"This is another significant step forward for itmWEB," stated site founder Russ Finney, who also serves as the Director of Information Systems for a major technology company. "This new resource fills a wide gap on the internet for a high quality collection of important methodology resources."
"Methodology.org will operate as a non-profit, community driven entity," stated Finney. "It will compliment the varied resources and wide reach of itmWEB™, yet it will stand on its own as an important research tool for both IT professionals and academics." The site will also contain the full version of the VBM - Vision Based Methodology which was developed by Finney over a number of years while leading major software development projects. Finney added that "Methodology.org site will be home to the VBM Methodology which I am providing to the IT community as a copyrighted, yet free license resource. It is my sincere hope that other free license methodology resources will find their way on to the site as well."
Another recent notable milestone was the sign up of the 3,000th subscriber to the itmWEB Information Technology Report. "IT consultant Jeff Gainer http://www.jeffgainer.com and I continue to web publish a independent look at technology news and issues every month," observed Finney. "Our growing, qualified subscriber base continues to bring an important IT audience into the itmWEB fold." Subscriptions to the report are free.
